ICELT

I have attended the ICELT conference held at Damai Laut (Swiss Garden&Resort) for three days. Though I updated a bit late here since my students are having their final exam and I'm a bit busy marking their assignments and counting their marks.

It was a new experience since I have never attended a conference before. There are many people presenting their papers and sharing their experience. Moreover, the presenters were not only from my country but they were from all over the world.

The first presentation that I enter by mistake was on children story telling (that's why I said by mistake T_T because I teach college students). The speaker is from Pearson publication and she has traveled to many countries and taught different kind of children. The one that she shared with us was when she taught Native American (I'm sorry if this is inappropriate) and Malaysian children where through her stories that to our surprise that she can make the non-talkative students in her class to respond to their English teacher.

Next, I attended a session that list out many useful activities that I can apply in class. The most interesting activities during this session is the presenter teach us waltz. She said that sometime to lift up her students' mood she would ask them to dance along with her :)
Though, not suitable for me :s

Apart from the presentation made by the teachers and the lecturers, the organizers also invite some of well known speakers to guide, to motivate and to teach the participants. They are amazing people who contribute in teaching field without minding about their salaries and there are also a story teller, a comedian and even an actor who guide the teachers to be an interesting teachers and creating a joyful class. I only attended two of those special presenters' session but they're both the best speakers. You need to be there to experience the amazing deal.

Finally, before running home [by car and because I have class the next day=( ] I attended another two sessions which are both on the guide to writing. One of the session really find its way to me because I teach weak students and they are very weak in reading, writing and speaking in English language. However, knowing that our college is quiet fully equip with library, computers and books I feel sympathy to the Felda's school students who studied in an average environment but amazed the teacher is able to pull them to get good result. I must work hard too, so that my students potential will be at their max ;)

That is all I think. I have got to continue marking (^^,) or else I'll not able to submit marks by the due date.
